It’s here again – and for 2017 NHDD Is a week-long event from April 16th to the 22nd. The aim of NHDD is to help people understand the value of advance care planning. When you think about it, people probably put more time and attention to planning a trip or an athletic event than they do planning for a potential life crisis. Well sure it’s easier to start something pleasant than something with a great many unknowns, or a situation that’s frightening and laden with deep emotions but that’s why it’s all the more important to plan for a time when you or a loved one may not be able to speak for themselves. If you put a lot of planning into a road trip, or a birthday party, you owe it to yourself to plan for a health emergency that is bound to occur at one time or another.
It never fails to impress me how once the conversation begins, people ask all the right questions.
What is a health care proxy?
What’s the difference between a health care proxy and a living will?
Do I need a lawyer to prepare one or the other?
How can I be sure my wishes will be honored?
Can I change my mind about the wishes I set up now?
And many more…
It is always a lively and enlightening discussion. Please join us on Tuesday April 18th, 2017 to learn more about advance care planning. All are welcome! Our staff will have free information and materials to help you. Being prepared is the road to greater peace of mind!
